The big complaint about the acting/writing in the Prequels with regards to Anakin is that it’s “awkward”.
But you see, that is why I like it.
I just don’t see how you could expect a guy
who spent the first decade of his life as a slave
literally being treated as less than a person
then was suddenly uprooted and separated from his mother
entered an elite and privileged order
in which most of the members have been there since infancy
and was told he was the ~*chosen one*~
destined to save them all or something no one’s quite sure
and who clearly has some serious emotional issues
to not be a little bit
or a lot
I’m not saying this is what Lucas meant to do and that he deliberately wrote awkward dialogue and told Hayden to play the character that way.
I’m just saying it works.
